2019 Landa #Workfam Memories
2019 has been a fun, busy and successful year for Landa Global! We’ve seen projects rise up in development, launched new projects and grew together as a team. This year, we took special care to host events that would bring us closer and create ever-lasting #workfam memories. Here’s a recap of what our office got up to this year:
What better way to start the year than to lock all of our employees in a room with only obscure riddles and clues to help them get out? To kick off 2019, we took to the Escape Room in Richmond to put our teamwork and our knowledge to the test! Our teams had a blast racing the clock trying to escape.
We hosted several Lunch & Learn events this year. Our first focused on the importance of teamwork and the second followed that theme by going in-depth with each team to show exactly how integrated our teams truly are. Each department had a moment to speak about their internal processes from project to project and we were all able to learn how to better help each other.
In May, a handful of our team members put their fitness to the test in the BMO half marathon. We even had some members complete the full marathon! It was a beautiful, sunny Vancouver day which was perfect to run throughout our beloved city and see so many of the different parts of Vancouver that we all know and love. Shortly after in the month of June, we had a few more team members head up to Whistler to compete in the annual Tough Mudder 5k. The endurance and teamwork we saw were inspiring!
August was a busy month for our office as we had not one, but two team events. We knew that we had to take full advantage of what little summer was left by the end of August, so we took to the green for a round of afternoon golf! Many of our construction and site workers were able to come together for this event to play, have fun and get to know each other better. Shortly after, we held our annual Summer BBQ event! This year we got our families together at Rocky Point Park in Port Moody to eat great food, BBQ’d up by some of our awesome construction team members, play fun games together and win some prizes. It’s always wonderful when we get the chance to bring our families together.
September’s event brought us some high-speed competition….literally! Our team hit the race track at Speeders Indoor Go-Karting in Richmond. We had a blast racing each other around the track trying to beat our best times (and each other!). Kevin even beat a record at the track for the year!
As the fall weather started to settle in, we thought our next event should be a nice, calming afternoon of painting. We teamed up with Yaymaker Events to host our first painting event in the office. Our artist, Michael, came over to guide us through a beautiful fall landscape painting. We all had a great time getting creative and seeing everyone’s unique take on the landscape.
Lastly, we had our wonderful Christmas celebrations. In addition to our annual Christmas party, this year we decided to also host a Santa Brunch event to gather our families together, children included, to celebrate the magic of Christmas. Gathering at the Pan Pacific’s Oceans 999 restaurant, we enjoyed a buffet brunch, time with Santa and giving gifts to the children. Our adults-only Holiday party took place in late November at the Pan Pacific. We had a night of great food, speeches from our CEO Kevin Cheung and VP of Construction, Herb Maretz, prizes, and we played a lot of fun games together.
2019 has been a year full of challenges and fun. We are proud to have seen true teamwork in our Landa family over the last year. We wish you a Happy Holidays and a very prosperous New Year, from our work family to yours!
