Landa Global and Asia Standard showcase their Alberni development at a successful public open house
On June 7, Landa Global and Asia Standard welcomed the public to an open house for their upcoming development at on Alberni in Vancouver’s West End. Our CEOs and staff were on hand to showcase the proposed development to neighbors, media and real estate insiders.
Over the course of the evening, hundreds of people passed through to learn about the two, new, proposed multi-family buildings at 1444 Alberni and 740 Nicola Street. We received some great feedback on the rental stock being offered and added to the area, as well as on the addition of new, multi-family residential. Some highlights from feedback we received:
“Great to see more family-sized units.”
“Glad to see this will provide more supply in both rental and residential.”
“Great proposal. This will help build community and will help young families who need housing in the area.”
“Such a comprehensive development for the area; the childcare and park space will benefit the community and increasing density in the area will help ease the housing demand.”
“This will be an iconic building to add to Vancouver’s already beautiful landscape.”
“Amazing, world class architecture.”
On display at the open house were renderings of the two buildings, to be designed by Robert M. Stern out of New York. The two buildings will be built in the tradition of neo-classical architecture, paying homage to existing buildings in this style in the city, including Hotel Vancouver and the Marine Building.
The Alberni proposal includes 133 new rental units to replace and add to existing stock, as well as a new childcare facility and a pocket park on site. Buildings will be 43 and 48 storeys with a total of 495 homes, including a mix of townhomes and family-sized units (2 or more bedrooms).
Development of the site for residential use is supported by a number of regional and city policies, including the West End Community Plan, Green Buildings Policy for Rezoning, Metro Vancouver Regional Growth Strategy, among many others.
The development promises to be architecturally sophisticated project, delivering new opportunities for homeownership and rental housing in a quickly evolving and exciting, amenity rich neighbourhood.
