Landa Global Properties and Rumble Boxing move forward with boxing gym at Cascade City

Rumble Boxing, a boutique fitness brand operating across Canada, has just been granted permission by the City of Richmond to open its doors at Cascade City, Landa Global’s new architectural landmark development near the Richmond Olympic Oval. A previous ban on indoor recreational facilities near the city-owned Oval was lifted in February, and Rumble will now be able to move forward with plans to provide its unique brand of boxing classes to the community starting in August 2024.

The new studio will be conveniently situated on the ground floor of Cascade City, a premier destination in the heart of Richmond (5766 & 5788 Gilbert Rd). The bold, bright architectural design of the building is a perfect match for the innovative new fitness studio. With its unique fusion of “nightclub meets fightclub,” Rumble is set to inject a fresh wave of energy into the Richmond community.

Richmond will be Rumble’s 9th location,  and the company’s expansion into Richmond signifies a significant milestone for the brand, solidifying its position as a leader in the fitness industry. With a focus on high-energy boxing workouts, personal training and community engagement, Rumble aims to become a cornerstone of the Richmond fitness scene.

“We are excited to introduce Rumble’s dynamic workouts and vibrant atmosphere to the residents of Richmond,” says Cissy Chen, Founder & CEO. “Our expansion represents our commitment to fostering active lifestyles and creating memorable fitness experiences and we are grateful to the City of Richmond for working with us to make it happen.”

“We are thrilled to have been able to help shepherd this company into operations at Cascade City,” said Landa CEO, Kevin Cheung. “The Oval is a rapidly evolving neighborhood and upcoming social hub and these kinds of retail services are a benefit to the community. We will also be building a new residential and hotel complex in the area in the coming years that will add significantly to the vibrancy of the neighborhood.”

Landa Global Properties applied to the city on August 31, 2023 to remove a covenant that bars indoor recreation facilities from its two-tower residential complex at Cascade City. The covenant dates back to 2015 when the Oval’s Chief Executive Officer asked for restrictions on indoor recreation businesses in new developments near the facility “to protect the City’s investment in the Richmond Olympic Oval.” However, after consulting with the Oval, the City was informed that restrictions are no longer necessary since the Oval is now a “well-established business in the neighbourhood.”

Rumble Boxing in Richmond will join the company’s other locations across the country, including Vancouver, Toronto, Calgary and Edmonton.
